The Chaîne des Rôtisseurs is the world’s oldest international gastronomic society, founded in Paris in 1248. It is devoted to preserving the camaraderie and pleasures of the table and to promoting excellence in all areas of the hospitality arts. Chaîne is based on the traditions and practices of the old French royal guild of meat roasters. Revived in 1950, the society has professional and amateur members in more than 70 countries worldwide. In the United States, there are nearly 140 bailliages (chapters), each offering a variety of culinary activities to suit the interests of local members.
The Silicon Valley chapter was officially founded over 35 years ago in 1980 as the Chapitre of San Jose, by George Seelt, Kal Cseuz, M.D., and Chef Emile Mooser. Two years later in 1982, the name was changed to “Bailliage of Santa Clara Valley". Our first Bailli was George Seelt, then Kalman Csuez, M.D. In July of 2012 we changed our name to ‘Silicon Valley Bailliage’ and our current Bailli is Jay Essadki. We have dedicated Board Members who support the vision and mission of our chapter through various events held throughout the year. We are dedicated to bringing together those who share a mutual interest in cuisine, wine, and fine dining in a spirit of camaraderie.
